Soccer In The Streets Internship OpportunitiesAbout Soccer In The Streets Soccer In The Streets is committed to building the life of low income kids through soccer in the heart of the country's urban communities and making it a true sport for all regardless of ethnic or economic background. Since its inception in 1989, the Atlanta-based non-profit organization, has positively changed the lives of over 100,000 urban kids in more than 75 U.S. cities. What intern positions are available? Internships are available in the following areas (click title for details):
When are Interns accepted? Realizing that educational institutions and students may have unique scheduling requirements, Soccer In The Streets internships can be flexible in order to accommodate such needs and applications are accepted at any time. However, typical program cycles are spring (February - May), summer (June - August), and fall (September - November). Since some positions are not directly tied to programs and some programs themselves are continuous/year-round, program cycles should not be the deciding factor for internship time frames. How do prospective interns apply? Those interested in applying should contact the Soccer In The Streets office in writing or by phone or email to request an intern application or click here to download an application. The application should then be submitted via mail, fax or email, along with a resume. Once the application is accepted, there will be an interview (either by phone or in person, depending on the availability of the candidate.) If the candidate is selected as an intern, they will then be required to pass a background check. What about training and orientation? Training and orientation will be provided. Scheduling is flexible. Required training hours will be determined by job area, current skills and project scope. What about supervision and evaluation? Interns will be required to attend weekly team meetings and to submit weekly reports of their assigned job area. Evaluations will be given every 90 days or at the end of the internship. Are these intern positions paid? Some compensation may be available. Stipends for internships may be negotiated, depending on qualifications/experience, job area and/or performance. Is housing available in the area? Campus housing is available in the summer on a first come/first served basis. Housing is at the student's expense at a local university. What are the options for transportation? Reliable transportation in the Atlanta metro area is a must. While personal vehicles provide the most flexibility, mass transit will provide access to any Soccer In The Streets location. Is college credit available for these internships? Interns are advised to consult with their academic advisor regarding course credits for internships. Soccer In The Streets will provide whatever documentation is necessary to ensure that an intern's work is recognized by their academic institution. Such requirements should be clearly stated before an internship begins. For more information or to obtain an application, please contact:
