Soccer in the Streets offers several programs geared towards all age groups in a variety of formats...

Street-Box™

In a Neighborhood Near You

Conducted in specially constructed, self-contained soccer "boxes" in the community
Creating big fun in small spaces, the Street-Box program addresses the key challenges of inner-city soccer. Specially designed and constructed, self-contained soccer facilities - about the size of two tennis courts - are placed in the heart of selected neighborhoods, creating a magic cauldron in which children and young adults create their own soccer culture.

Positive-Choice Soccer™

School Year

Conducted at Street-Box facilities, Neighborhood Schools or Community Centers
Using soccer as the "tool", Soccer In the StreetsŪ Positive-Choice™ Soccer teaches inner city kids how to lead a more positive life away from drugs, crime and violence. Through the Positive-Choice™ curriculum, which was successfully piloted in the Atlanta Public School system and the Boys & Girls Club, the program uses trained staff and volunteers to implement the physical, educational and cultural enrichment activities related to the program. Through participation in Positive-Choice™ soccer, kids learn to chart a course for their life away from unhealthy behavior, such as drug use and participation in gangs, and towards a better education, career, and healthier lifestyle and personal growth.

Urban Soccer Girls' Program

Four to Six Weeks

Conducted in neighborhood park, school or community center
This program introduces soccer to minority females in urban communities and features basic skills training, intramural play and tournaments for girls only. USG kicked off in 1999 in conjunction with the Women's World Cup hosted in the United States. Through collaboration with organizations such as the Women's Sports Foundation and Georgia Women's Intersport Network, soccer programs help girls to get a kick out of life.

Super Soccer Show

One Day Event

Conducted At A Neighborhood Park or Community Center
Super Soccer Show is a one-day introductory mini-soccer clinic for kids, and is the kickoff event for hosting Soccer Streets programs. This event features soccer celebrities, local dignitaries, presentations, door prizes, product sampling, and media opportunities. This is a "feet on" first exposure to soccer for many children.

Soccer 101

Varies - One to 5 Weeks

Conducted In The Neighborhoods Where The Kids Live
Soccer 101 is an introductory program for beginners. In a five-session program it teaches children some of the basic skills of soccer and how to use these skills in fun, small-sided games.

Soccer 101 Graduation

One Day Event

Conducted In A Neighborhood Park or Community Center
Concludes Soccer 101 with a ceremony that honors the children who attended at least three of the five clinics. Soccer celebrities, local dignitaries, and other special guests present awards to the graduates. The Soccer 101 graduates participate in individual skill competitions and team games to showcase their newly acquired skills.

Mini Camp

One Day Event

Kids Are Transported To A Community Soccer Complex
The Mini Camp is a one day program that teaches children field positions, rules, and game strategy for soccer, building on the foundation of soccer knowledge acquired through their involvement with Soccer 101. The mini camp helps to prepare Soccer 101 graduates for recreational league play, the Soccer 102 program.

Soccer 102/ Soccer Streets Cup

Varies - 4 to 8 Weeks

Conducted In A Neighborhood Park or Community Center
Soccer 102 is the recreational competition component of the Soccer Streets program and the children's first exposure to the traditional league structure that includes matches and tournaments. Children participate on small-sided teams and along with their families, learn about what it takes to be part of a soccer team. This also offers families many opportunities to get involved in the support functions of the program (i.e. coaching.) This step is part of the progression towards integrating with existing soccer programs.

Urban Soccer Girl Program

One week, up to 8 Weeks

Conducted In A Neighborhood Park or Community Center
This new program introduces soccer to minority females in urban communities and features basic skills training, intramural play and tournaments for girls only. USG kicked off in 1999 in conjunction with the Women's World Cup hosted in the United States.

Soccer Streets National Cup

Annual Weekend Event

Hosted on a national or regional level
Soccer Streets teams are invited to participate in a competitive tournament format. In addition to the competition, teams are encouraged to meet and fellowship with teams from other areas and participate in educational and historical activities available in the host city. The Soccer Streets Cup also serves as a vehicle for showcasing the talent being developed through Soccer Streets programs.

Soccer 103

On-going

Adapted to skill levels and in locations where needed
Through the Soccer 103 program, Soccer Streets identifies and selects exceptional players from the program participants. The National Director of Coaching, along with local coaches, are responsible for identifying players, ensuring that they have the proper training, monitoring their progress, and addressing any needs that these elite players may have. The coaching staff will ensure that Soccer Streets elite players are promoted to appropriate playing opportunities (i.e. clubs, ODP) or develop such opportunities where they do not exist.
